George Baker: blustering and grandstanding

Whenever George Baker gets in front of a camera he acts just like the cat that swallowed the canary. Serious questions are put to him but he jokes them all off. He lives in a senate bubble and appears not to care what happens outside of that bubble.

I am reminded of his role in holding up the budget in 2007. The senate is of the same mind in 2008. Iggy does not seem to have any control there. Mr. Baker said so. Never in the time he has been around has anyone told him what to do, so why start now.

His latest rant is pure bluster. 450_baker_0903042 Perhaps he has decided that Premier Danny has taken enough heat and that his voice is needed to keep the football in the air ready for the passes to touchdown.

You see, Danny likes to yell, shout and scream. He has always won doing this.

Now he has his backup man do an academy award performance at being totally frustrated and in the “we’re not going to take it anymore” attitude.

I suggest that those who occupy the eastern rock are basking in the offshore oil money and feel they are in a position to rock many boats. They feel the government has diddled them out of lots of money. Seems to me that Premier Danny had a choice to make about which agreement he wanted to run with. To this date I do not think he has chosen one. He must be like George Baker. No one tells him what to do.

Newfoundland, the former “have not” province, has never had it so good.

I did a double take this evening when a sputtering George Baker mentioned, with his finger swinging in the air, we are a have not province….—- what !!!!!??? He seemed to be insinuating that the big boys always pick on the vulnerable less financially solid boys.

I think he has had one rant too many. All those years are rolling into one.

What do they want exactly?

Maybe they do not have it all pinned down yet, but they know one thing works.

Shout…yell….accuse…create drama….blame Stephen Harper long enough and they get what they want.

Look at Quebec. This is what they do and little by little, inch by inch they have acquired much and coffers are never empty.

Paul Martin promised Danny something and somehow Stephen Harper is to blame and it has gone from there. Paul Martin was one administration…..Stephen Harper is totally different….. sameness and exact to the letter are not always possible.

Those months ago all of this could have been fixed. Pouring a little oil on troubled waters always brings clarity, understanding and bridge repairs. If Danny could not do it, why didn’t he send in someone who could.

Nova Scotia fixed their gripes with the Conservative government.
Saskatchewan did as well, albeit it was a different Premier by then.
Something went well with the British Columbia Premier and Stephen Harper to get them over the finish line.
Ontario is working with the Conservatives instead of being combative and it seems to be working.

Newfoundland better think it all out about wanting to be separate. They would have to use all of their resources to survive. There would be no “Canada” to bail them out.

George, we see through your act. You are quite the actor. I hear the Senate calling you George. There is much to do and little time to do it in. Canadians are waiting for you and your colleagues to pass the budget so that shovels can hit the ground, money can flow to a brighter future.

Get on with it.

Watched George Baker’s interview on CPAC with Martin Stringer. He is wildly angry at the government and the Liberal Party.

    • 3. Conservative Reporter  |  March 4, 2009 at 10:30 pm

He’s a good actor Fay. It’s still all “bluster” from a puffer.

    • 4. Conservative Reporter  |  March 4, 2009 at 10:31 pm

What’s he mad at the Liberal Party for Fay? – I miss something?

    • 5. Bec  |  March 4, 2009 at 10:53 pm

Yeah Fay, I want to know that too. At 3 pm MTN, it was all about, PMSH.

PS CR, I almost missed your post. It is set up to the right and very low on the page. Much different format than usual. Ah, hiding from the trolls! Good idea lol

    • 6. Conservative Reporter  |  March 4, 2009 at 11:13 pm

Bec I will change format then
do not want it low and unfamiliar…

    • 7. Bec  |  March 4, 2009 at 11:47 pm

      Ah, better.
Can I be the adorable redhead instead of the green frantic spaz?
At least an adorable redhead frantic spaz?

I have been looking for the LpoC diss from Baker.
This may have been a late day public meltdown.

This guy has been getting away with stuff forever.

I was gone most of the day, so just catching up. From comments etc from other blogs it seems that this senator wants an amendment to the budget, to get all the so called equalization back. Iggy wont agree. Senator will vote against the budget.
Then another liberal senator could not get a seconder to his motion to ban the seal hunt. Seems Iggy is having some problems with his caucus. But, remember Iggy is on record as saying nobody will speak for the party without his approval. So, is Iggy behind all this, or is it Danny.
Iggy supposedly voted for the budget, to appear to want to get money flowing, but knows he can get it defeated or amended in the Senate.
I really think this standoff is going to take us to an election and people of Canada will really have to make a serious decision.
I also think the libs want to get back to the trough so they can decide what projects (friends) will get funded, buy more brown envelopes and spend that so called slush fund.
Most of it will go to Que and maybe NFLD, and the west will be shafted big time.
Iggy telling people in Toronto that the western farmer feeds the city and are important is the craziest thing I have heard. Perhaps he should go shopping for groceries and see how much produce is from some other country.

      Danny pulls the strings methinks.

It is all so skitzo when we try to analyze it….
      ayyyyeeeeevayyyyy

Bec I found this adorable redhead somewhere on the net..a few years ago…heheheheh

I put it in my pictures file and then just brought it forward…

    • 11. Conservative Reporter  |  March 5, 2009 at 12:02 am

There is no real proof that NFLD is owed anything.
Danny never did accept agreement one
      or agreement two
….I remember Jim ( finance minister ) saying over and over again..they can take this one …or this one…
      opt in or opt out

…it’s some political game danny is playing
scream scream and get your way
      now he brought in Baker…

      no substance to their arguments
      nothing explained to us

    • 12. Springer  |  March 5, 2009 at 12:29 am

I’ve had a gutful of both these clowns.

Imagine had a Conservative Senator beaked off like that about western separatism.

      Right.

    • 13. fernstalbert  |  March 5, 2009 at 12:36 am

Just read the news article on CTV (also voted on the poll question for the PMO), regarding this reckless mouthpiece from the Liberal Party. Baker actually thinks that if Newfoundland separates that the young people working in AB and beyond will rush home to support the motherland. I’ve got news for Senator Baker – young people do not go home – they like living the fast life in Edmonton and Calgary. They are not going to give up those big salaries and Northern Allowances for the struggles of an isolated island. I’m presently selling swampland in Florida, any offers.

    • 14. Fay  |  March 5, 2009 at 12:48 am

In the interview with Martin Stringer on Cpac. Senator Baker seemed to be saying with the Liberals supporting the budget and the decrease in equalization payment decrease. the young people of NFLD would have no National Party to support so would start a NFLD BLOC party. Martin Stringer didn’t bother to point out the NDP party.

    • 15. Fay  |  March 5, 2009 at 1:44 am

Just watched CPAC interview again. At the end when Martin Stringer asked Senator Baker, What will you do if Iggy and Liberal Party punish him. Senator Baker replys, it will leave him and NFLD no choice but look for other political options.

Dear Fay – thank you for the last post. I have been watching Fox for all the dirt on what’s happening in the US regarding Obama and his trillions of dollars in outerspace. Now we have useful idiots in Canada screaming foul and foaming at the mouth – where are they going to go – back to Britian – I think the Brits have enough problems on their own. Someone should take Baker’s temp – I think he’s got separatism fever, first diagnoised in Quebec and recently spread to NFDL. My question is it viral or bacterial?

    • 17. Bec  |  March 5, 2009 at 4:34 am

No, Fernstalbert @ 1:57 am we will prevail.

I know, it seems abysmal and horrendous but what I like about it frankly, life lessons.

All 3 of my kids, own propertybecause we taught them our life lessons.
LIE berals don’t do that, they take and expect.

Conservatives, give and teach, plus the bonus, we have more babies.

Man, CR, I don’t even need glasses with this setup! lol

    • 18. wilson  |  March 5, 2009 at 11:17 am

‘My question is it viral or bacterial?’
Viral, these is no know medicinal cure.
No amount of money thrown at the disease has ever cured it, the virus mutates and comes on stronger.

The biggest budget in Canadian history (so they say??) passed the House last night,
      was sent to the Senate,
not one media report on this event.

      Did Danny’s 6 vote ‘yes’?
Is that why Baker was sent in to distract?

    • 19. Jen  |  March 5, 2009 at 2:20 pm

CR, remember the time recently that danny williams signed an agreement with the prime minister ; I think it was the time after pm won the election and that danny went on television to tell canadians that this is not the time to play politics. remember that.
I tried to find that agreement signed by danny williams and prime minister. Do you have an idea where it is?

    • 20. Jen  |  March 5, 2009 at 2:33 pm

BNLF pulls out of canada and I can see ALBERTA as well, I don’t think that western canada want to deal with a liberal government not after what they pulled on us on -AN ILLEGAL UNELECTED UNDEMOCRATIC COALITION TOGETHER WITH THEIR MSM.
NFLD says they have had enought pointed by BAKER, well, Alberta has had enough of it period.
CBC is attacking alberta’s oil sands, this is an insult to us provided that we are the economical engine to this country.
I hope that Ontario wakes up to the fact that they will be left alone with the dippers, liberals that stole from canadians and who are supporters of terrorist groups to deal with. I don’t think that the liberal MSM gives two cents for this country.

Adler, Rutherford, Lowell Green are a few who will speak for us our country and democracy.

    • 21. Jen  |  March 5, 2009 at 2:41 pm

      - where are they going to go – back to Britian –

      No, back to Ireland,
Quebec will go nowhere because France give them up -remember?
