The January Budget will undoubtedly help Canada–is the coalition going to spite Canadians and vote it down?

Would the Coalition be that daft as to deny help to the Canadian economy? The answer is probably yes. It seems, that at this moment, all members have Stephen Harper’s picture on their dart board.
If they do, it will displease Canadians and seriously damage our economic balance.
I see that John Manley has written an article in the Globe and Mail entitled “The First Liberal Step–Replace Dion”. Thank you to my blog visitor “Wilson” for the tip.
Here is the first paragraph:
Now that the Governor-General has accepted Stephen Harper’s request for a prorogation of Parliament until Jan. 26, there is time for everyone to take a breath and think through what just happened and what happens next. As a Liberal, I believe the first step for my party is to replace Stéphane Dion as leader with someone whose first job is to rebuild the Liberal Party, rather than leading a coalition with the NDP.
–end of John Manley quote–
May I remind you that from early days the Liberals pointed fingers and put up roadblocks in every direction, in every way they could. It resulted in a waste of parliaments time and spilled off into Committees. Some of these Committees put on public inquiries in which former conservative politicians were dragged into their “kangaroo court”. I cannot think that any of the liberal and new democratic party constituents were too happy with this. Canadians were let down and much valuable work not done.
It continues, but it has taken on a more serious form because these opposition parties have lost their perspective. Whenever power is the objective, it corrupts intelligence and decency and blinds those who dance with it.

This coalition group shows no sign of letting up and putting Canada first. They already think they are. This is the sad part.
They have not been completely truthful as to how they really came about for instance. They have been dreaming of an alliance way before the election campaign started. Let them blame Stephen Harper if they wish. The history of it all will stand the test of time.
The auto manufacturers in Canada are all asking for funds to the tune of 6.8 billion. You might want to tell your MP whether you approve of Canada bailing them out. The United States is making decisions on what to do with their auto people as well and they are the people who started this instability. The whole job aspect in Canada needs reviewing. Forestry, farming, health carers, small business, seniors, investment, banking, mortgages, loans, pensions, job security et al.
Your Conservative government has been working on this for months. They have gathered information on the world’s economic status, in keeping with their obligation as a G8 or G20 member and to be in alliance with the world order that will keep Canada strong and balanced. Doing a money package now with half of the information not available for dollar amounts and targets, as the coalition wants, is utter folly.
As I write this the Conservative Ministers are giving their departmental input into the budget stream as it flows to completion for January 27. Your Conservative Members of Parliament are in their constituencies gathering all the input they can to add to the growing stream I just mentioned. The Conservative Government is still at work even though parliament is out of session.
Steady hands are on the wheel.
The Conservatives have current and consistent experience in running the government that Canada needs to keep in place in these crucial times.
No need to abandon ship.
Let your voice be heard. Attend the Rally For Canada near you tomorrow (Saturday) and see the support that Canada has. Also, Canadians For Democracy have a petition you could sign.
It will do your heart good.

Would anyone here have believed,
3 years ago, that the Liberal Party of Canada
would abandon their long and strong history in Canada,
and become 1/3 of a socialist/separatist party?
I can hardly believe it now, and I’m seeing it.

Wilson, the liberals as late as tonight’s Mike Duffy supper show are denying that what you say is so. Iggy is saying his party has always listened to canadians and will continue to….(and with a straight face too)
…not much consulting happened to form this coalition…
they deny that the bloc is in it fully, only as a “supporter” for 18 months in which they promised not to bring them down within that time. Remember history?…Chamberlain went to Germany and obtained a signed signature of Germany not going to war with Britain… ha…
they have their blinders on…or they are mis-speaking ( knowing they are )

If Harper is so smart, then why is he so pig headed? I don’t agreee with the coalition, but I also do not agree with the dictitorial behaviour demonstrated by Harper. Perhaps this party as well as the Liberals should be looking for a new leader.

Even if they take out the Bloc,
the Liberal Party of Canada is 1/2 a partner in a socialitst/separatist party.
This is the House That Jack and Gilles Built.
The LPC are jumping into the bath drawn by socialists and separatists.
Once in….

Well Wilf, you may not like his personality but his workmanship and results are for the world to seeand more are in the works.
He has made Canada the envy of the financial world. Kept us stable. (remember we are not in deficit yet).
He and his finance minister foresaw things a year ago and planned on that vision and we missed all the rough waters that other countries are experiencing.
He has given the armed forces a sense of pride in their chosen profession. He has listened to them and made money available for the supplies they need. The liberals took away money for years and left the armed forces in a sorry state.
He has put Canada back on the map as a country worth listening too. Other countries can rely on Canada now and often do.
I have stuck with him since 2006 and have no plans to abandon a great prime minister. I see nothing or no one in any of the other parties that I would follow down the yellow brick road.

‘why is he so pig headed’
You mean strong minded.
Wilf, there are 4 of them and one of us.
Name me ONE Conservative MP that could have withstood the onslot from this kind of four-way frontal attack.
Did you watch the debates?
Do you hear ANY complaints/leaks from within the Tory caucus?
Brison, Stronach and Turner…Liberals all of them
A pig headed leader would have not been able to keep a united right united.
Only a respected and admired leader can do that.
We have a leader, stong, smart and genuine.

The reason I wouldn’t stick with him is because he is untruthful and hypocritical; I don’t even pretend to be a political expert but the obvious does come to mind.
1. The promose broken on energy trusts
2. The promise broken on a four year election cycle.
3. The promise broken on transfer payments to Saskatchewan
I firmly believe the Conservatives can do better than Harper.

Since when is politics a gentlemans’ or ladies sport that eveyone plays nice? Croquet anyone? HARPER just smoked out the Liberals and NDP and guess what they fell for it – its almost tragic how easy it is to rile up the left. Only Liberal with a brain engaged is Manley – but the Liberals don’t like him so he isn’t going to enter the frey of leadership politics. I find it highly amusing all this defense of the Bloq by Liberals and NDP – this is really going to sell well to the ROC who actually love this country and want to see it succeed. What a recipie for disaster – the coalition is a Nightmare before Christmas. You can bet your eggnog that when people get together at the holidays – there will be some harsh words for politicians who think breaking bread with separatists is ok.

Wilf,
All of the posted complaints by you also saved YOU as a Canadian, millions in taxes. Now, I don’t know about you but I like to keep my own hard earned money.
I do not like supporting offices full of people playing Solitaire, on their computer because they are the fat that needs to be trimmed.
Saskatchewan, became a “have” province and should be proud of it.
When a parliament is dysfunctional, being held up with similar drama as you have seen this week, it is better to try and “reboot” it. Thus the election.

3. The promise broken on transfer payments to Saskatchewan
Good lord man, grow up.
By energy trusts, I assume you mean income trusts – the only people that lost on those were the ones that were stupid and sold out early. It had to be done. If you actually would take the time to do a bit of research you would know that
The four year election cycle – actually – since this coalition thing was in the works probably before the last election the government would never have lasted four years. It would have been nice if it had, but in a minority situation; there is no hope it could have.
Equalization to Saskatchewan – Why should have provinces get equalization, wilf. You don’t hear Brad Wall complaining. Saskatchewan should be proud that they have got rid of the NDP – look how their province has turned around with no NDP in power ( kind of makes you realize how Canada dodged a socialist bullet with the GG’s decision, huh)

To Bec,
Calling the election early saved us millions of dollars?
To Alberta Girl,
You of course totally missed the point. After they promised not to mess with income trusts they did. Whether they came back or not is irrelevant. That doesn’t make a lie the truth.
In all of this I don’t dispute the message. The messenger is the problem.
