RECOUNT IS FINAL – KEITH MARTIN RETAINS HIS SEAT. TROY DESOUZA STOPS RECOUNT AFTER IT BECAME APPARENT THAT THE NUMBER OF DISPUTED BALLOTS COULD NOT BRIDGE THE GAP.
Troy DeSouza received 19,974 votes in the October 14th election. That was 68 votes less than the incumbent Liberal Keith Martin. Mr DeSouza asked for a recount and a Judge ordered a judicial recount on Thursday, October 23, on the basis that some of them could have been incorrectly rejected or improperly tabulated. Every best wish to you Troy.
Here is a bio of Mr. DeSouza.
He immigrated to Canada as a young boy from South Asia. He served as an Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves between 1987-1994, where he reached the rank of Captain and was named the top reconnaissance officer in Canada. He later pursued a law career, working as a municipal prosecutor and litigator with the firm Staples McDannold Stewart. Troy is recognized as a province-wide specialist in bylaw enforcement. In 2006, he was named Vancouver Island’s Top Lawyer Under 40.
Troy obtained a political science degree from University of Victoria and a law degree from the University of Windsor.
Active in his community, Troy created and teaches courses that help citizens navigate the legal system. He has been the director of the Victoria Dragon Boat Society, and serves as announcer for Operation Trackshoes, a province-wide track and field competition for disabled athletes. Troy is also an avid hiker who completed the West Coast Trail in 1997.
Troy is married to Kismet Bhander and they have two daughters, 3 year old Ava and newborn Lucy.
We will be watching this Riding closely.

I’d like to see him win as much as every conservative out there but I think dragging this out is stupid. He should really concede and be done with it and run again next time.

68 vote spread…I think I would call for a recount…just to set all minds at rest…and outcome sure.
Just my opinion though…
