UPDATE: RECOUNT OVER…LIBERAL CANDIDATE WINS.
Kyle Seeback, our Conservative candidate in Brampton West received 21,516 votes on election night. This was a pretty close race and an excellent showing when you consider the declared winner, Liberal Andrew Kania garnered 21,739. A 223 vote span was close enough for Mr. Seeback to request a judicial recount. An Ontario Superior Court Judge will conduct the recount. (date to be announced)
Here is a bio on Conservative Kyle Seeback.
Born and raised in Brampton, I’ve proudly watched its amazing transformation from a small, mainly agricultural community into a large, multicultural urban centre.
Growing up, swimming was my passion and I was proud to represent Canada on our National Swim team from 1986 to 1993, even swimming for Canada at three Pan Pacific Games.
After attending the University of Nebraska on a full athletic scholarship, I decided to pursue law and went to the University of Western Ontario for law school.
I returned to Brampton in 2000 and am proud to be practicing law and, together with my wife Liana, raising our two daughters in the same area in which I grew up.
Today, Brampton faces challenges. The days where kids could play outside all day without fear for their safety are gone. As a dad and a lawyer, I am concerned about crime in our community. I strongly support Stephen Harper’s determination to make streets safer, as well as to make life more affordable for Canadian families.
The people of Brampton used to know their representatives and see the results of their hard work for the community. Issues like the closure of the old Peel Memorial Hospital would not have been ignored as they are today. As your Conservative candidate, I want to return to those days where it was clear that MPs were working for the interests of the people and not the other way around.
Every best wish Kyle. We watch with interest.
This blogger Hat Tips to “West Coast Teddi” a reader of this blog, for her directions to Elections Canada, said directions made the picture so much clearer to report results in this thread.
