Special thank you to Joanne who found this information. Joanne has a popular blog called Blue Like You. I often go there to chat.

Peter Braid awaits a recount in Kitchener Waterloo. He beat out long time liberal Andrew Telegdi. All eyes are on him with hopes that he continues to be the elected MP. He has tax and immigration experience, and studied international relations. Great resume Peter.

Peter Braid, a candidate with a wide range of federal government, business and community experience, attended both the University of Waterloo and the University of Toronto, having graduated from the latter in 1989 with a degree in International Relations. He currently works as a communications consultant.

Peter served in the constituency office of Hon. Walter McLean P.C., M.P., as an employee of the Immigration and Refugee Board and more recently as a Director of Operations at Sun Life Financial in Waterloo. Peter is a member of the Waterloo Economic Development Committee and the Board of the Conservative Riding Association.

As a Conservative Member of Parliament, Peter envisions the riding of Kitchener-Waterloo as a tolerant, forward-looking, environmentally sustainable and economically strong community that fully realizes its potential role in the country and the world. One of the key issues that Peter will focus on is the environment, taking action to tackle one of the most urgent and fundamental issues of our time.

Peter lives with his family in Waterloo. He and his wife Annette have two daughters, Tamara and Alexandra.

Kitchener Waterloo area has been a very interesting spot this election.  Incumbent Harold Albrecht retained his seat in Kitchener Conestoga.

Karen Redman a longtime Liberal representative for this area, was defeated by Conservative Stephen Woodworth. There does not appear to be a recount happening for Kitchener Center.

I was born in what is now Grand River Hospital in Kitchener -Waterloo. I grew up in the same Polish neighbourhood where my grandmother settled when she came to Canada. It was a working-class area and my parents encouraged me to work hard and get an education.

I received the complete Kitchener-Waterloo education, from Sacred Heart Elementary all the way through to my undergrad at Wilfrid Laurier University. I then went to Western and was lucky enough to meet my wife Sharon at law school. Our three grown-up children do us proud every day.

I have worked to earn the trust of thousands of members of our community during my over 30 years practicing law, my nine years as a school trustee and my involvement in our church and local causes. I’m ready to take my reputation as an honest and principled man to the federal level to act as your voice in Ottawa.

Kitchener Centre is facing some challenges and Stephen Harper can be counted on to act for us. I want to be a part of the Conservative Team that has delivered on their commitment to lower taxes for families and business, invest in new roads and our local transit system, and who will keep delivering real results for Canadians.

New MP’s and new ideas on their way to Ottawa. It’s all good.

Interesting … being my old stomping grounds and all.

Woodward an actual practicing lawyer with 30 years experience versus Redman … what was she a school trustee or something?

Also … for some reason I can’t help contrasting this with certain LIberal sycophants who claim law credentials.

Maybe a contrast too with some young conservative who thinks the environment needs to be meddled with by politicians.

It seems this is only one of 29 ridings that are in dispute. The http://enr.elections.ca/National_e.aspx page shows “Polls reporting: 69,601/69,630″ along the bottom. — John M Reynolds
