“Walking Tall!” November 24th, 2006

It seems to me like a century ago I read an article by Stephen Harper at the National Citizens Coalition website and reacted (<a href=”Stephen was the head of the organization at the time). I can’t find the article right now — it appears to be no longer available — but it impressed me so much I wrote to them and asked why they didn’t become a political party in their own right because I saw Harper as a real leader with many good ideas. I received no reply.

“Little did I know” as Stockwell Day went on to defeat Preston Manning for the leadership of the Reform Party and in his turn was “beaten to death” because he was a staunch Evangelical Christian by the “natural governing party” in the following election. It was low, it was very dirty and it exposed Liberals for what they really are.

I warned my local riding that it would happen and nobody believed me. But the “new boss” was “smoked” and I shrugged my shoulders and walked away. Shortly after the election Stockwell Day was challenged again as a new leadership convention was called and “before my wondering eyes there came a vision”.

A tall man — a big man — a “no bullshit” new contender who carries a six foot piece of hickory as a statement of purpose.

“Hey, I know that guy!”

“Can I play too?”

“Why yes Jack. Have fun!” and so I have.

In all of my adult life (and I can remember back to <a href=”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_St._Laurent”>Louis St. Laurent) I have never encountered a PM like this man. Not Trudeau, not Mulroney — not any of them.

Harper is far and away their intellectual superior when it comes to decision making and “doing the right thing”. The proof lies <a href=”http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/LAC.20061124.NATIONTICKTOCK24/TPStory/Front”>in an article I linked to earlier:

Read it slowly — read it carefully — and then think about where our “new government” is going with it’s “tax breaks” and their shutting down of the “Trudeau Apparatus” which has accomplished nothing but steal our hard earned dollars as they continued their game plan – ”to buy the Canadian public” — one vote at a time. Our national debt was created by Trudeau (we were in the “black” until he arrived) and “I know”, Mulroney get’s the blame “never mind” that interest rates were at 20% or higher when he arrived – bullshit.

“Million dollar tobacco farms were selling for a nickel on the dollar.”

It was the “times” we were in “then” and no Canadian control was possible.

Mulroney was dealing with a worldwide recession at the time and a huge national debt. To his credit we still came out ahead thanks to “free trade”. Afterward, as the MSM went to work on him, Brian was blamed for everything that happened and Liberals went on to steal almost everything we have arguing that Quebec was the problem.

They destroyed (almost) our only real source of protection — our armed forces – screwed our national police force (RCMP) to death and made beggars out of the only people in this country that they could — the middle class (I’m still paying off my morgage although I’m retired).

THE WORKING CLASS!

It was a winning ticket as they continued to play one against another and that continued until a man with a big stick entered the arena.

All of a sudden it’s “going to hell” as they watch him beat the Bloc and many others – the socialist ”reason d’etre”, their “reason for being” – right into the ground.

The Bloc is one tiny problem in a huge mess but it’s a great start in regards to the issue of separation and we need a lot more of it as this man drags Canada, “kicking and screaming”, back to the rightful place our ancestors earned at Vimy Ridge and all the other places we have fought for because of our beliefs.

It is to “Thank God” that Canada has produced such a son and today I publically acknowledge this fact and my only regret is that Canada will not likely see his like again in my lifetime.

We should take advantage of the opportunity he represents while we can.
